Font - We broke up about a month and a half ago. Everything about our relationship was on his terms: he decided when we should start dating again (dated briefly once before, he reached out after over a year), he decided when we became "official," he decided when to say "I love you" for the first time, he decided to breakup with me over text and block me on everything before I had a chance to respond.

Font - And now, I get a letter in the mail from him after being no contact ever since that self-aggrandizing breakup text. He thinks he can continue to affect my life on his terms. I was considering opening it, curious as to what he could possibly say. Then I realized, out of all the possible things that letter could

Font - possibly say. Then I realized, out of all the possible things that letter could say, every single option would just make me mad. And he doesn't deserve to have that power over me. He made it clear he didn't want me in his life, so I'm just giving him what he wanted. On my terms. I wrote "RETURN TO SENDER" on it. He doesn't deserve the satisfaction of thinking I read it.

Product - adoerte 17 hr. ago Awesome decision to send it back unopened. That will piss that narcissist off. You deserve better. 4.8k Reply Share PlentyNectarine OP 16 hr. ago Haha thank you! My mom and best friend first said I should burn it, but I could just picture him sitting there, feeling good about himself for

Font - apologizing and thinking he's such a good person for it (because I know that's what he would do). He doesn't deserve to feel that way, not when he treated me horribly and never even gave me a chance to say anything during the breakup. Picturing him getting it back unopened with "return to sender" makes me feel a lot better. 2.3k Reply Share

Font - tinypearlsofwisdom · 17 hr. ago Fantastic. Proud of you. Good work. It's just manipulation and control. Congratulations, you're free. Reply Share 868 PlentyNectarine OP. 16 hr. ago Thanks so much! I feel like i've done a lot of work on myself since the breakup. I don't think I could have

Font - done this at any other point in my life. I would have opened it immediately and probably sent something back, which would have made me feel awful. 324 Reply Share

Font - CANOV Myopic_me 17 hr. ago I did a similar thing. This was pre-cell phone days. My fiancé and I broke up. Six months (I had to sell a condo and finalize some projects at work) after the break up, I left the state and moved back in with my parents. During those 6 months, we were cordial with each as we had friends in common, but we wouldn't seek each other out.

Font - After living with my parents a few months, I got my own place and moved out. Shortly after that, the ex-fiancé called my parents' house, where I didn't live anymore. (Remember, no cell phones). He wanted my new number. Parents didn't give it to him. He then sent me a letter at my parents' address. After discussing with me, they wrote "return to sender" and sent it back.

Font - I was done with him. I felt that anything he wanted to say he could have said before I moved away. I got to dictate how it ended on my terms, and I was good with that. Reply Share 520

Font - PlentyNectarine OP. 17 hr. ago good for you! That's the exact thing i'm trying to do, take control of my life back. This guy dictated so much of my life while we were together, he doesn't get to do that anymore. Reply Share 213

Font - SaraAmis 17 hr. ago Even if the letter said "I'm so sorry, I've made a terrible mistake, please take me back".... which is the best thing it could say, other than "I'm sending you cash to make up for being such a jerk"...he already GOT his second chance. I applaud your decision. 139 Reply Share

Font - PlentyNectarine OP 16 hr. ago Even if it did say the first thing, I think that would just piss me off. I told him when he wanted to get back together that I never give second chances; if someone couldn't treat me right the first time, why would I believe them to do it right the second time? I had a gut instinct to hear him out and get back

Font - together, but I made it very clear at the beginning that if he did that to me again, he does not get another chance and will never hear from me again. Delete my number, forget I exist. 115 Reply Share
